FBI Agent Coffindaffer Breaks Down The Banfield Investigation | What Went Wrong?

The trial of Brendan Banfield begins today — and retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer is here to examine the investigation that's about to face a jury. Brendan Banfield is charged with orchestrating the February 2023 murders of his wife Christine and Joseph Ryan, allegedly with help from the family's au pair Juliana Peres Magalhaes. Prosecutors say he created a fake FetLife profile to lure Ryan to the house as part of an elaborate murder plot. But there's a problem. 

The prosecution's own digital forensics expert concluded Christine controlled the FetLife account — not Brendan. Officer Brendan Miller's findings were peer-reviewed by the University of Alabama and confirmed. Then Miller was transferred out of the unit. The lead detective who questioned the theory was reassigned. The original lead prosecutor was removed. Judge Penney Azcarate ordered disclosure of communications about Miller's transfer.
