In this episode of Live Life Better, host Nanette Wiser talks with psychotherapist Jason A. Tomkins, LCSW & Navy veteran David Bertoncini about F3 The Burg on how the peer-led mens' leadership group helps men combat isolation and build new friendships through fitness training, fellowship and faith.
What is F3? F3 stands for Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith. It’s a free, peer-led men’s leadership movement that started in 2011 and now operates worldwide. In St. Petersburg, we’re known as F3 The Burg.
What do they do? Free, outdoor workouts (45–60 minutes), rain or shine
  • Open to all men, regardless of fitness level
  • Rotating volunteer leadership
  • Post-workout coffee (“coffeeteria”) for connection and accountability
  • Community service and leadership development

Core principles: Always free, open to all men, peer-led outdoor fitness building discipline and resilience that ends with a brief circle of reflection and post  work-out coffee.  Faith means believing in something bigger than yourself and serving others (not tied to any denomination)
Why it matters locally: St. Petersburg continues to grow, and many men lack consistent community. F3 provides connection, purpose, leadership development, and positive mental and physical health benefits — especially for men navigating career and family pressures.
