Artificial Intelligence in South Sudan: Understanding the Risks and Opportunities

On the Hard Talk segment of Radio Miraya’s Community Conversations Show, hosts Moyo Jacob Felix and Viola Elias led a timely discussion with expert Tony Kenya on how artificial intelligence can divide and manipulate communities when it is misused.

The conversation looked at the growing use of fake voices, images, and videos created through AI, and how such content can spread rumours, fuel mistrust, and mislead the public. Coming at a time of increased attention to cybercrime and digital safety, the programme also explored how the same technology can be used in positive and responsible ways to support peace, unity, and informed public engagement.
