This City Was Black” is a six-part narrative audio series that traces Black history in New York City. From migration and housing to education and politics, hosts Jaylen Green and Haya Panjwani delve into the ways Black residents have made indelible contributions to New York’s culture and identity. The series aims to create a modern-day archive that informs public understanding of what it means to be a Black New Yorker.
