This is the first part of our discussion on pulp comics, as Darren Smithson & Chris Dingsdale discuss the action heroes and why they are so important.
(Part Two will follow later in the year and discuss the sword & sandal tales (Tarzan, Conan, Solomon Kane etc), and the scientific heroes (Flash Gordon, John Carter, Buck Rogers etc).
