What does success actually cost—and are you willing to pay it?
In this episode of Listen Bitch Presents: Tell Me Why You’re Special, Branden sits down with Gary DeFranco, a television producer with over 20 years in the entertainment industry, including work on reality TV, UFC programming, and major network productions.
Gary shares his journey from humble beginnings—living in a crowded apartment with nothing figured out—to landing opportunities that shaped his career in television. But this isn’t just a success story. It’s a conversation about risk, reinvention, and what happens when the industry changes and you’re forced to adapt.
They dive into the reality behind fame, the evolution of reality TV, and how success amplifies who you already are. Gary opens up about the sacrifices of working in entertainment, the pressure, and why most people don’t realize what they’re signing up for when they chase visibility.

Gary DeFranco is an Emmy-nominated television executive producer with more than two decades of wild, unfiltered, and genre-defining experience in reality television. From ESPN to Discovery Channel to PlayboyTV, Gary’s career has taken him inside some of the most extreme worlds on TV—street racing, DEA raids, underground fight culture—and for many years, deep inside the chaos of the UFC.
He has produced for major networks including ESPN, FOX, Showtime, Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, VH1, Spike, and more. Gary is best known for his powerhouse run as Executive Producer of The Ultimate Fighter—a franchise that has delivered 40 seasons globally—along with his executive leadership on TBS’s Power Slap and an incredible 14 seasons of Discovery’s hit series Street Outlaws.
Gary’s path to television was anything but traditional. A kid from the East Side of Cleveland who started as a rapper, he once opened for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, moved to Las Vegas, attended UNLV, and even spent time around Death Row Records before finding his calling behind the camera. His journey includes adversity, reinvention, and the refusal to quit—an energy that now defines his work and the people he chooses to champion.
Today, Gary is the owner and president of Max Glow Media, a creative and production studio that blends television, music, branding, photography, and digital strategy under one roof. His company builds and elevates brands for fighters, artists, influencers, models, and public figures—helping them connect with audiences, grow loyal fanbases, and monetize their platforms. Somehow, this masculine, straight, East-Cleveland TV veteran now also manages transgender rap artists, a twist he openly laughs about, describing his life as “beautiful chaos that came out of left field.”
Beyond producing, Gary is a mentor to athletes and musicians, an advocate for personal reinvention, and a natural storyteller who has lived enough for three lifetimes. When he's not on set, he’s making music, painting, boxing, cooking, designing fashion, or finishing his debut book.
With a career rooted in resilience, creativity, and fearlessness, Gary DeFranco brings raw honesty, unbelievable stories, and hard-earned wisdom to every stage, every show, and every conversation.
