Why do most people fail in sales… and what actually separates the ones who win?

In this episode of Listen Bitch Presents: Tell Me Why You’re Special, Branden sits down with Bryan Charleau, a sales mentor and author who breaks down what really happens behind confidence, rejection, and growth.

After a career-ending shift from college football into sales, Brian built a 15-year career learning one thing most people avoid—how to hear “no” without letting it break you. This conversation dives into the truth about imposter syndrome, why rejection is required for success, and how confidence is built through action, not waiting until you feel ready.

They also get into the real mechanics of sales that nobody talks about—listening, handling objections, building a repeatable process, and why authenticity will outperform any script.

If you’ve been stuck overthinking, hesitating, or doubting yourself, this episode will call you out and show you what it actually takes to move.

I’m the author of "Pitching Sales! A Complete Guide to Becoming a Sales Professional".  I focus on helping people enter the sales profession and develop the mindset and skills needed to succeed early in their careers.

Unlike many sales books that focus on helping experienced sellers go from good to great, my approach takes more of a mentorship perspective. I help guide new sales professionals through the challenges, frustrations, and confidence hurdles that all new salespeople face when starting out in sales. The ideas in the book come from my own experiences in the field, along with insights from many other sales professionals who shared what they wish they had known when they first began their careers.

In addition to helping individuals break into sales, I enjoy speaking with business owners about how to grow their companies by introducing structured sales roles. Ideas that cover topics like when to hire a first salesperson, how to compensate them properly, and how to build a sales culture that supports long-term growth.

I’m also passionate discussing personal reinvention. how redefining your identity, taking risks, and pursuing something outside of your comfort zone, including writing a book, handling imposter syndrome, and building a career around helping others grow.
