How do you continue to make a difference when life has asked you to slow down? In this episode of Keep the Faith, Beth Gelman talks with Bob Devin-Jones, playwright, theater director, mentor and one of St. Petersburg's most enduring creative forces. For decades, Bob has believed that art isn't separate from community--it is community. That conviction has driven his work in theater, uplifting the lives of artists he has championed and St. Pete itself. When a serious illness during the COVID years brought him face to face with his own limits, something shifted but his commitment to what he calls "tending his patch of the garden" never did. It's a conversation about creativity and resilience, about faith as a way of being in the world rather than a set of beliefs about it.
YOUR HOST Beth Gelman is an actress and writer who became fascinated with religion and spiritual practices at a young age. A cantorial soloist, she has performed and taught liturgy and prayer in hundreds of churches, cathedrals, temples, synagogues, and educational institutions across the country, and has investigated a wide variety of spiritual and philosophical practices, from the well-known to the obscure. In addition to performing and writing, Beth has held leadership roles in arts and cultural institutions throughout Chicago and Tampa Bay. “My path has been eclectic, but all my experiences have reinforced my belief in the power of ritual, story, and song to connect, heal, and inspire.”
Keep The Faith original intro music is by Tom Sivak, Gelman's husband who just debuted a Tampa Opera in November.
