Two hundred episodes.

When I started this podcast, I thought my business was to teach people how to do business better. 200 episodes later, and I think my job is something slightly different.

It's to help you think better about your business.

To mark episode 200, I wanted to step back and share the principles I've stopped arguing with. These aren't trends, hacks, or productivity tips. They're the lessons that have remained true after building businesses, employing people, burning out, simplifying, changing direction, and supporting thousands of business owners.

If you've listened to every episode, thank you. If this is your first, you've joined at a pretty good place.

In this episode:

• Why simple almost always beats clever
• Why most business owners don't need more information, they need better decisions
• Why your business should fit your life instead of consuming it
• Why capacity matters more than constant productivity
• Why nobody knows your business better than you do
• Why success is always personal and should never be borrowed from someone else
• Why you're allowed to change your mind as your business and life evolve
• How fifteen years in business have changed the way I think about growth, simplicity, and ambition
• Why this podcast has become less about teaching and more about reflection

Looking back, I've built businesses, simplified them, scaled them, stripped them back, burnt out, started again, and discovered that the things I enjoy most have barely changed at all.

Helping people think more clearly.

Sorting businesses out.

Having interesting conversations.

Sharing what I've learnt.

Everything else has evolved around those foundations.

Whether you've been listening since episode one or you've only just discovered Messy Business, I hope this episode gives you permission to trust your own judgement, define success on your own terms, and build a business that works for the life you actually want.
