Part two of Patrick Clancy's cross-examination continued today in the murder trial of his wife, Lindsay Clancy, the Duxbury, Massachusetts mother accused of strangling their three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan — with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. Clancy faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation. She's pleaded not guilty, and attorney Kevin Reddington is building an insanity defense around severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.

Reddington picked up where he left off, still working to establish that Lindsay's actions in the months before the killings were driven by fear and instability, not calculation. Patrick again testified that she was afraid to return to work — not because she resented the job, but because the thought of being separated from her children was too much for her to handle. Reddington also returned to the medication issue, reinforcing through Patrick that Lindsay only took a few pills of each prescription because that's what her doctors told her to do, not because she was refusing treatment.

It's a continuation, not a pivot — the defense is laying the same brick twice to make sure it holds. A jury that hears "doctor's orders" once might forget it. A jury that hears it reinforced across multiple lines of questioning is a different story.

Prosecutors still have to convince that jury she understood what she was doing that day. After the killings, Clancy allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window and is now paralyzed from the waist down. The trial continues in Plymouth Superior Court.
