Pause. Breathe. Lead. Escaping Burnout and Rediscovering Purpose with Jeff Kennedy

Before every episode of Voice of Haven, I pray for one thing—not that the conversation will be perfect, but that it will meet someone exactly where they are.
This conversation with Jeff Kennedy did that for me.
There were moments during our conversation when I wasn't just asking questions as a podcast host; I was listening as someone who has walked through burnout, questioned her worth, and had to fight to rediscover herself beyond titles, achievements, and expectations.
When Jeff said, "Slowing down is not weakness," I paused.
When he said, "Leadership is influence," I reflected.
But when he said, "She is enough. She is worthy," something shifted inside me.
Those words carried me back to a season of my own life.
A season when the two words God gave me for the year were Worthy and Enough.
At the time, I didn't fully understand why.
Later, after walking through one of the most stretching seasons of my life—one that brought pressure, exhaustion, disappointment, and moments where burnout seemed louder than purpose—I understood.
Those two words became my anchor.
During this episode, I shared that story with Jeff, and then, after we stopped recording, he spoke another word over me:
"You are loved."
I wasn't expecting it.
But it was exactly what my heart needed to hear.
Sometimes, God sends people into our lives simply to remind us of truths we already know but have become too tired to believe.
That moment reminded me why Voice of Haven exists.
It was never meant to be just another leadership podcast.
It is a haven.
A place where leaders are reminded that before they are CEOs, founders, pastors, executives, or entrepreneurs, they are human beings.
People with hearts.
People who become tired.
People who sometimes forget that their value is not determined by their productivity.
In this episode, Jeff beautifully explains that burnout is not just about having too much to do.
Often, burnout begins when we start trying to prove our worth instead of living from it.
We also explored what leadership truly means.
Not titles.
Not positions.
Not recognition.
Leadership is influence.
Leadership is serving.
Leadership is choosing people over ego.
Leadership is learning to take your eyes off yourself so you can genuinely see those you've been called to lead.
One statement that will stay with me for a very long time is this:
"Saying no isn't selfish. It's strategic."
As leaders, we often believe we have to carry everything.
Respond to every email.
Accept every invitation.
Solve every problem.
Save everyone.
But perhaps wisdom is found in understanding that every "yes" costs us something.
Sometimes the most courageous leadership decision is choosing to pause.
To rest.
To breathe.
To protect your purpose.
Jeff also reminded us that every day is a gift and that our greatest calling is to use that gift in service to others.
That simple truth captures the heartbeat of Voice of Haven.
If you are listening today while carrying the weight of leadership...
If you've been wondering whether you're doing enough...
If you've been running on empty...
If you've forgotten who you are outside of what you do...
This episode is for you.
My prayer is that, as you listen, you'll hear more than our voices.
I pray you'll hear hope.
I pray you'll remember that you are not alone.
You are worthy.
You are enough.
And, as Jeff reminded me after we stopped recording—
You are loved.
Thank you, Jeff, for sharing your wisdom, your heart, and your generosity with our Voice of Haven family.

Voice of Haven is more than a podcast.
It is a place where leaders pause.
Where leaders breathe again.
Where leaders remember who they are before the world tells them who they should be.
Until next time…
Pause. Breathe. Become.
