Keffe D Confessed To Tupac Without Being Asked A Thing

Detectives sat Duane "Keffe D" Davis down in 2008 to talk about the murder of the Notorious B.I.G. Nobody in that room asked him a single question about Tupac Shakur. He brought it up himself.
That's the detail sitting at the center of the Tupac Shakur murder trial now underway in Las Vegas. Davis had already told the FBI years earlier that neither he nor his nephew had anything to do with Shakur's death. Then, under a promise that nothing he said in that 2008 interview could be used against him, he reversed course completely: riding in the front seat of a white Cadillac on September 7, 1996, spotting Shakur in a black BMW driven by Marion "Suge" Knight, passing a handgun into the back seat, and saying that if the cars had lined up differently, he would have fired the shots himself. His nephew, Orlando Anderson, allegedly took the gun and opened fire. Shakur died six days later. He was 25.
Prosecutors say Davis repeated that account for years afterward — in a BET documentary, a 2019 memoir, and paid interviews — even after a retired detective published details from the case in a 2011 book. Davis was indicted in September 2023. He's pleaded not guilty and faces life in prison. His defense says the entire narrative is fiction built on a man who talks too much and proves nothing.
So why does a man who once denied everything to federal agents suddenly volunteer a murder confession to detectives who never asked? Hidden Killers walks through the full timeline — the Cadillac, the promise, the decade of public retellings — and the question jurors now have to answer: is this a confession, or a story a man told so many times he started believing it himself?
