Dominque ran over the neighbor’s cat when she was reversing out of the driveway. She didn’t see the cat, and she feels terrible about it. When she realized what had happened, she quickly ran over to their home and got them. It took her a few knocks on doors, because she didn’t know who’s house the cat belonged to, she doesn’t have much of a relationship with the people on her street. It’s a busier street. Now, six months later, she and her husband, Fred, received a notice from the neighbors that they would like to be compensated $2500 so they can replace the cat and for emotional trauma. She wants to just pay them because she feels so bad about it. Her husband says no way, this is a cheap money grab. Their cat shouldn’t have been roaming the streets. What do you think?
