The Civil War is coming to an end.  Generals Grant and Lee meet at Appomatox Courthouse to make it official.  The agreement is drawn up and signed.  But the man who actually wrote the agreement, wasn't recognized as a citizen by the very government he'd spent most of his adult life serving.
