Madrid edge Inter in thriller as Dortmund, Man City and Betis also start with wins

The Champions League kicked back into action in style on Tuesday with 21 goals across the six matches. 

In our featured commentary, Real Madrid edged an end-to-end encounter against Inter, running out 2-1 winners thanks to first-half goals from Kylian Mbappe and Federico Valverde. Carlos Augusto responded for the Italians in the second half but the 15-time champions held on to start their campaign with a victory. 

Elsewhere, Erling Haaland was the match-winner in Portugal for Manchester City, scoring both goals in an impressive 2-0 victory against Porto - we hear from the Norwegian striker. Borussia Dortmund saw off a spirited Villarreal side, with two late Serhou Guirassy goals sealing a 3-2 win for the Germans. And in France, 10-man Lille surrendered a first-half lead to go down 3-2 to Real Betis, with Irishman Troy Parrott grabbing the winner for the Spaniards. 

Meanwhile in the two early kick-offs, AEK Athens overcame LASK 1-0 in Greece and Aston Villa hung on to beat Club Brugge 3-2 in Belgium.
