Mica Miller's Church Chose JP Miller Over Her

Mica Miller told police she was being stalked. She reported tracking devices on her car. She told officers she was afraid for her life. And the community she turned to for support chose the man she was accusing.

Solid Rock Church in Myrtle Beach was the center of both Mica's and JP Miller's lives. He was the pastor. She was the worship leader. When the marriage began to fracture and Mica started documenting what she described as surveillance, harassment, and coercive control, members of the congregation rallied around JP. Mica was isolated within the institution she had given her life to.

On April 27, 2024, Mica was found dead at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina. Her death was ruled a suicide. She had served JP with divorce papers two days earlier. JP Miller preached at her memorial. Mica's friends say the way he spoke about her body from that pulpit was the clearest window into the dynamic she had been trying to escape.

Federal prosecutors have charged JP Miller with cyberstalking and making false statements to investigators. He has pleaded not guilty. A Netflix documentary explores the marriage and the alleged pattern of control.
