A Conversation with a Dead Soldier | Real Ghost Stories

A spontaneous stop at Fort Scott National Historic Site was supposed to be nothing more than a break during a drive through Kansas. While exploring the old barracks, one visitor struck up a casual conversation with a man dressed in a period military uniform. He answered her questions, joked with her and seemed exactly like what she assumed he was: a reenactor working at the fort.

She might never have thought about him again if she hadn’t made an offhand comment before leaving.

The response she received changed the entire encounter—and left her wondering whether the perfectly ordinary man she had been standing just a few feet away from was ordinary at all.
