Dan Brennan and Dalton Orwig are joined by two regular voices on Mobile Mornings for a wide-ranging hour covering local schools, football and national politics.

Quin Hillyer joins the show to break down the controversial officiating in the Saints’ loss to Detroit, including the disputed Jared Goff play and what the NFL rulebook actually says. The conversation then turns to the war in Ukraine, President Trump’s criticism of Ukrainian strikes on Russian fuel infrastructure, rising fuel prices and the debate over how the war should end. Quin also makes the case for supporting local Mobile-area restaurants.

Later, Mobile County School Board member Johnny Hatcher joins Dan and Dalton following the Mobile County Commission’s decision to continue funding the School Resource Officer program. Hatcher discusses efforts to expand SRO coverage throughout the Mobile County Public School System, the possibility of additional support from the City of Mobile and other municipalities, and the role officers play in school safety and student relationships.

The conversation also covers drugs and vaping in schools, fentanyl and Narcan, recent incidents at Theodore and B.C. Rain, student discipline, cell phone restrictions and Hatcher’s assessment of how MCPSS is performing this school year.
