Why Caleb Flynn's Mistress Said 'I Didn't Mean It' on the Stand

Alleigha Botner said "I didn't mean it" before she read the message, and the prosecutor made her read it anyway. It was July 10, 2025, it was about Ashley Flynn, and Caleb Flynn's reply was "that makes two of us." Why she had to say it, and what the jury does with it, is where this True Crime Today panel starts.

Robin Dreeke, who ran the FBI's Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program, and Jennifer Coffindaffer, a 25-year FBI special agent, take three clips from the Caleb Flynn trial. The July 10 thread. September 2, when Ashley had already found their messages on Caleb's iPad and photographed them, and the two of them work through whether she still has the pictures; Caleb offers to "grab her phone when she sleeps," Botner says "be careful," then asks what his excuse will be, then says "Perfect." And August 22, her response to his 4 a.m. "ways to kill her and not go to jail" message: a disclaimer, "I'm not asking that you take her life, obviously," and a deadline, "time is ticking."

Caleb Flynn is charged with aggravated murder in the February 16, 2026 shooting of his wife in Tipp City, Ohio. Prosecutors say he staged an intruder. He has pleaded not guilty. Botner testified on cross that she has no charges and was promised nothing.
