John Lennon, the former Beatle, was shot and killed on 8th December 1980 outside his residence, The Dakota in New York City.
The 40-year-old legendary musician was returning from a recording session with his wife, Yoko Ono, when he was ambushed by Mark Chapman, a mentally ill fan.
