Caleb Flynn Court Coverage Day 7: Defense Asked Reeb About WHO Else?

Samantha Reeb’s cross-examination gave jurors a different view of the digital evidence surrounding Caleb and Ashley Flynn.

The Ohio BCI criminal intelligence analyst testified that she built timelines from Caleb Flynn’s police interviews, other information supplied during the investigation, and data recovered from Flynn’s iPhone.

Defense counsel then moved into information found on Ashley Flynn’s device.

Reeb testified that Ashley’s iPhone contained notes, including one indicating difficulty within her marriage. That evidence added Ashley’s own recorded concerns to a case already filled with digital communications involving Caleb and Alleigha Botner.

The defense also asked Reeb about Botner’s messages. Specifically, counsel raised communications in which Botner allegedly expressed hatred toward Ashley or a desire for Ashley to be dead. The details provided from this portion of testimony do not include Reeb’s answer, so that question remains exactly that: a question put to the witness on cross-examination.

Caleb Flynn has pleaded not guilty to the charges in the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn. Prosecutors allege he killed Ashley and staged their home to look like a burglary. The defense maintains an intruder killed her and police settled on Caleb too quickly.

Reeb’s timelines organize what investigators collected. Cross-examination is now asking jurors to consider whose messages, notes, and statements made it into that larger picture.
