For eighteen months, Caleb Flynn maintained an affair with Alleigha Botner while staying married to Ashley Flynn, keeping his family life, job, and church identity intact. Prosecutors argued that conflict became motive. Then they showed the jury the digital trail Flynn left behind.

Jurors saw 107,000 messages between Flynn and Botner. They heard testimony about messages in which Flynn discussed wanting Ashley dead and thinking about ways to kill her without going to jail. Investigators testified about data recovered from his phone and other devices after apps had been deleted. The State paired that evidence with surveillance and crime-scene testimony to argue Flynn staged an intruder story.

The defense said there was no murder weapon and argued that infidelity could not replace proof. It called no witnesses after the State called forty. On September 29, Flynn was convicted on all nine charges, including aggravated murder. His sentencing is scheduled for October 5.

Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins Tony Brueski to examine the relationship pattern behind the evidence. Scott describes a cycle of broken promises, reconciliation, intermittent reinforcement, and sunk-cost thinking. She also looks at Flynn's apparent effort to keep two incompatible lives functioning at the same time.

Scott's commentary is expert analysis, not courtroom evidence. The jury's verdict rests on what was actually admitted at trial.

This combined episode follows both tracks without confusing them: the digital record that helped define the prosecution's case, and the psychological pattern Scott says can help explain why the relationship kept going long after its contradictions were impossible to miss.
