In it's second botched execution of 2026, after the failed execution of Tony Carruthers' left him paralyzed, Tennessee failed to execute Christa Pike, after two "lethal" injections. Pike had been convicted of murdering a classmate, 19 year-old Colleen Slemmer, in 1995 as part of a "devil worship ritual sacrifice" and sentenced to death. Pike was 18 at the time of the murder.
