After the May execution of Tony Carruthers was halted — after over an hour of failed IV attempts and an alleged stroke — Tennessee sent the same physician into Christa Pike's execution chamber on September 30. Dr. Mark Fowler testified under oath he had not placed a central line in over thirteen years. He holds no hospital privileges. The state's position in court filings: his qualifications were "not important or relevant." Pike received two doses of pentobarbital. Her arms were swollen, burned, and blistered. She was still breathing. Retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke joins Tony Brueski to analyze the behavioral fingerprint of a system repeating its own failures — and what the state's own words tell us about an institution that may be protecting itself instead of protecting the process.
