Investigators found that ChatGPT was removed from Caleb Flynn’s phone on February 15. GroupMe and Instagram were deleted shortly after 1 a.m. on February 16, the morning prosecutors say Flynn shot his wife Ashley in the back of the head as she slept. Prosecutors argued he was erasing the digital trail of his affair with Alleigha Botner: 107,000 messages, AI-generated love songs, and research on how to delete data permanently. The deletion timestamps survived. So did the messages, the Apple Watch activity, and the cell phone records. Flynn and Botner had discussed obtaining a burner phone, according to testimony. A jury convicted Flynn on all nine counts in roughly two hours without a recovered weapon. Attorney Bob Motta and retired FBI agent Robin Dreeke discuss the arrogance of a man who thought he could outsmart forensic technology.
