THE MATTERING EFFECT FOX 13's Linda Hurtado Interviews JOHN R. MILES on his new book 10/6/2026

John Miles debuted his new book "The Mattering Effect," at the St. Petersburg Museum of History Oct. 6. In an interview with Fox anchor Linda Hurtado, they talked about why we feel invisible in an exhausted world and how we can make genuine connections. I wrote this book for anyone who has ever wondered, "Do I matter beyond what I produce, achieve, or provide for other people?”
Says Miles: "Because you can be successful on the outside and still feel invisible on the inside.  Mattering is more than being liked, popular, or successful. It’s the fundamental human need to know that your life has worth and that who you are and what you contribute makes a genuine difference. In The Mattering Effect, I explore why we lose that sense of mattering and, more importantly, how we reclaim it from the inside out.
If you’ve ever felt unseen, disconnected, or like something essential was missing despite everything you’ve accomplished, I wrote this book for you. Today, it’s officially yours.
The Mattering Effect: Creating a Life of Meaning and Worth is officially out in the world. (Link to order: matteringeffect.com)
If you pick up a copy, I hope it helps you stop negotiating your worth in places that cannot see you—and gives you a roadmap to build a life where you never fade out of your own story.
