Grab your pumpkin pails, hop on a broomstick, and whatever you do, don't forget the elf's name—the studio is getting spook-tacular this week!
Conspiracy Theory: 007 in Alcatraz & The Nameless ElfBefore the crew takes a stroll down a dark and spooky lane, they kick things off with a mind-bending edition of the Conspiracy Theory! segment. Hosts Eddie and Spencer, alongside Intern Manager/Managing Intern Amy, put on their tinfoil hats to unpack some truly unhinged cinematic hypotheses.
First up is a legendary 90s action theory: is Michael Bay's 1996 blockbuster The Rock secretly a James Bond movie? The table debates the overwhelming evidence that Sean Connery's imprisoned, highly lethal British spy, John Mason, is actually just an older, disavowed 007 left behind by MI6. Then, the crew journeys to Middle-earth to tackle a hilarious and highly plausible Lord of the Rings observation: the realization that throughout the entire epic runtime of the film franchise, Frodo Baggins never actually learns Legolas's name.
Spencer's Nostalgia Trip: The Halloween TreeOnce the tinfoil hats are safely stowed, Host Spencer takes the lead to guide Eddie and Amy through one of his absolute favorite, nostalgia-fueled seasonal watches: the 1993 animated made-for-TV classic, The Halloween Tree.
Based on the iconic Ray Bradbury novel, the team breaks down the magically dark journey of four kids traveling through time with the mysterious Mr. Moundshroud to learn the true historical origins of the holiday. But the real question for the table: does this childhood favorite actually hold up to adult scrutiny today? More importantly, the crew asks whether a children's movie centered entirely around a kid actively dying of appendicitis on Halloween night -while his friends bargain for his soul- still delivers those warm, nostalgic fuzzies, or if it is just pure, unadulterated 90s nightmare fuel.
Did The Halloween Tree survive the test of time, or did the studio get locked up in Alcatraz by MI6? Tune in to find out!
