Terry Lovelace, retired lawyer and former Assistant Attorney General, never intended to share his story publicly. A discovery in 2012 changed his mind. He decided to speak for those willing to consider his experience — and those still reluctant to share their own.
In 1977, Terry and his friend Toby went camping at Arkansas’s Devils Den State Park. Terry planned to photograph wildlife. The nighttime sounds stopped, and lights appeared. Terry describes an encounter that left him struggling with PTSD for decades. He thought he saw children walking acoss the field. His friend told him to look again. They weren't children. To this day, he avoids open, grassy fields.
Incident at Devils Den, recounts that night and its aftermath. But at an editor’s suggestion, Terry left out parts of his personal history. Those details became central to his second book, Devils Den: The Reckoning.
Questions linger. Terry says the area where they camped was restricted. Why? Had something happened there before? One curious detail still puzzles him: he had planned the trip around taking photographs, yet left his camera at home.
