Fire at Rock'n Heartland

Aug 12, 2012, 10:00 AM

Somebody in transition first noticed the smoke billowing from a light pole, where the electrics apparently caught an Osprey nest on fire. Seemed I was the only one with my phone on me (social media responsibilities) so I called 911 and then helped to find extinguishers and I waited to meet the firefighters and direct them in. Certainly wasn't something we expected during a race; and you always expect surprises and problems. lol Great job to Race Director Dan Andrews for keeping everything under control and mucho gracias to West Sebring Volunteer Fire Department.
