The Chief Constable will today warn the public that lives could be at risk because of cuts to his police budget. George Hamilton is to tell the Policing Board the reduced resources will mean the PSNI will have a "reduced ability to keep people safe, prevent and detect crime, leading to Article 2 (the right to life) risks". He also said publicly yesterday that the PSNI would be "unrecognisable" because of cuts of more than £50million. The Justice Minister David Ford has been warning about the impact of cuts on his budget since the summer, and yesterday he seemed to suggest he could quit over the matter.
