Yizkor remembers Holocaust 70 years on....

Seventy years ago today on January 27th 1945 Auschwitz was liberated -- releasing the few thousand surviving prisoners of the Nazi concentration camp.

More than million people, mostly Jews, died there during the Second World War.

Today ceremonies will take place across Europe to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

There'll be a special performance this evening at the New Vic Theatre in Newcastle-Under-Lyme. The Borderlines Theatre Company will stage 'Yizkor' a script based on the memories and diaries of holocaust survivors, before taking the play on a tour of schools in Staffordshire.
