The Auditor General has released his first ever report on the inner financial workings of the #SouthSudan Central Bank and the picture looks very bleak.

Steven Kiliona Wondu briefed cabinet ministers, parliamentarians and local government officials on his report which covers 2011/12 and, even more importantly, delivered his recommendations to improve financial record keeping.

He says the books of the Nation's top bank just don't balance.

"I am very worried,” he says. “We have material balances in foreign banks which we cannot confirm and we have material balances in our own accounts from our customers which cannot be confirmed.” He has recommended the Government begin a “forensic diagnosis” of accounts.

Miraya’s Sebit William had a one on one with the Auditor General to discuss the report and what this means for government transparency and accountability.
