President Salva Kiir opened the 1st extraordinary SPLM party convention in Juba on Friday.
The 3 day convention which ends Saturday is being attended by up to 700 delegates and invited guests.
The main agenda is to review the party constitution and manifesto.
In his opening remarks, President Kiir started off with an apology to the people of South Sudan for the conflict.
He also touched on the root cause of the conflict, the emergence of what he termed as ‘communal enclaves’ within the party and increasing banditry across the country.
