Vice President James Wani Igga has admitted before SPLM parliamentarians that joining the East African Community has some weaknesses.

But, Igga still believes South Sudan membership in the bloc has fewer disadvantages than advantages.

He says critics of the membership capitalizes that South Sudan will be a dumping ground for commodities from other more developing members.

Meanwhile Aggrey Tisa Sabuni, Presidential Advisor on Economic Affairs argues that the cost and the benefits of joining the East African Community are equal.

Tisa believes joining the East African Community will assist in improving South Sudan’s economy.

But, he explains that for the country to formalize the membership President Salva Kiir has to sign the treaty of accession and the parliament endorses it.

The officials were briefing the SPLM caucus at the National Legislative Assembly on the admission of the country into East Africa Community.
