Deer Creek Mine closing
The Deer Creek coal mine in Emery County will be closing next year. 182 workers will be out of work. The mine has been in operation since 1974, and is owned by PacifiCorp. PacifiCorp Energy president Michael Dunn says, "We have evaluated what is in the best interest of our customers and determined it no longer makes economic sense to keep the Deer Creek mine open."
