A comic performing on stage gets a subtle cue that they only have a couple minutes of time left before they have to say good night and walk off. That cue is usually a light. Sometimes, a comic just ignores that light, frustrating all of the other comics on the bill. A person would do this because they have more to say, because they haven't gotten that big laugh yet, or just because they're inconsiderate jerks. This act of defiance is called 'Running The Light.'
