EDU 313: The SMART Board

Oct 19, 2012, 04:14 PM

This week we’ll be looking at using the SMART Board that we have in our classroom. If any of you have had practicum or any kind of experience where you’ve seen students interact with the SMART Board or maybe you’ve used it yourself, you can probably speak to the fact that students really enjoy interacting with this. This really does a good job of bridging the gap between the content and the students. And this allows them to really engage and often physically get up and move around to engage with the content on the SMART Board. So what we’ll do this week is we’ll take a look and we’ll practice the SMART Board by getting up and actually doing a few exercises. You guys will also become more familiar with the SMART Notebook Software and all the different pieces that exist inside of there – different learning activities that are built into it, as well as how to create your own activities for learning. And this will really work for any content across the board. We’ll also talk about an area online called the SMART Exchange that has free activities and lessons created by teachers for you to use with the SMART Board. So again the idea here this week is to get comfortable using the SMART Board where you can see the advantages to placing content in a SMART Board area where the students can engage with it. I think you’ll enjoy this week. I’ll see you this week.
