BBC Radio Manchester hears what it's like to have grown up in a mixed race family 30 years ago.

We live in a multi-cultural society. You can see that on our streets, in our schools and hospitals - in fact practically everywhere you look.
And, as the latest census shows, it's a society which is becoming more multicultural by the day. Here in Greater Manchester the number of those who describe themselves as mixed race has nearly doubled in the past decade. As a society its hoped we are becoming more open and accepting but it hasn't always been like that..
