Trouble East Belfast after flags protest

Jan 07, 2013, 11:57 PM, Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom

There was trouble on the Newtownards Rd in East Belfast tonight as a crowd of around 250 loyalist protesters made their way back from a rally at Belfast City Hall. Bottles were thrown at them as they went past the nationalist Short Strand area and as police moved in to clear the area, loyalists threw masonry and petrol bombs at officers.
