A technical question about moving from spinning storage to an SSD

I have a 256 GB spinning hard drive. I want to move this hard drive, almost bite for bite, to a 512 GB solid-state drive. I would like to do this in such a way so that the new hard drive boots just like the old one does, and the computer doesn't even know the difference, as well as Obviously have an extra 256 GB of free space since the new drive is bigger.
