Lady Gaga. Born This Way. The album was a a phenom, it sold a million copies its first week and The title track was the fastest-selling single in iTunes history

Did you catch that mini-movie video that she made about the song Born this Way? Intergalactic butterflies danced across the planets at the birth of the split between good and evil. Pretty heavy duty artistic statement, don't you think?

This is Emmet Brady with another insect essential, and this was only the latest expression of the human-insect connection in the dance world. Today's episode is all about Dancing Bugs and Moving Midges. I look at the all the ways that movement and signaling appear in the world of insects and spiders, mostly from reproduction and camouflage. Fruit flies, honeybees, phasmids, mantids, spiders and -yes - there are even a real category of dipterans called dancing flies.

At the same time, bugs show up in human dance, both in dream and in the real work of renowned choreographers such as Paul Taylor who has been placing insects in his performances since 1961.

I also have my first interview with Becky Randall, the creator of the Facebook page Go Ahead Bug Me, which has 10,000 likes in just over a year. Wait till you hear what she has to say about women who love insects.
