The Dancing Bees (Broadcast of Lecture from 2011) @ Philz Coffee in Berkeley, CA (INN #41). This is Cultural Entomology at its best! To hear the full broadcast, visit www.insectnewsnetwork.com and type in number 41 - that's #41 - in the search bar. And be sure to Join the Insect Tribe! Sign up for our newsletter, the Periodical Buzz. It's a rebroadcast of a show that I hosted in Berkeley @ Philz Coffe Shop in the summer of 2010 called "Dancing Bees." I explore all the mathematical splendor and the metaphysical nuance of these amazing eusocial insects. who communicate the location of their food sources by dancing in a geometric patterns. They transmit the direction distance, and quality of the food by dancing geometric shapes likes lines, circles and figure eights - on the honeycomb inside the hive - in total darkness - with no training at all. It's possible that these little insects are communicating in multiple dimensions in a truly quantum fashion. I also trace the history of this artistic expression of humans and how the honey bees shows up in dancing mythology as far back as the ancient Greeks - and that's where the connection to Olympics comes full circle (no pun intended).
