New Year's Resolutions: fact or fiction?
Do they really work? Are they just a trick of the imagination?
If you are the type who believes that a annual commitment to a new way of doing thinking or a new way of doing things can change the direction of your life, then this episode of the INN is for you, Because on this show we offer some of the Keys to the future. To be specific we offer the Keys for 2013.
And we give those keys names: for example, the great egg fly, the paper kite, the zebra lacewing, blue morpho and honeybees!
This is a broadcast from my holiday travels in particular how I wound up in the Florida Keys at One of the resplendent stops along the way was the Key West Butterfly Conservatory and Natural Museum.
A factoid was explained to me that suggested a primo example of natural 'intelligence": inside the nursery for the Conservatory, they have dozens of examples of butterflies and moths going through metamorphosis. Of course, not all of them survive - as many as half don't live through the process - and there are native ants the find their way in to remove the the dead pupae. What's fascinating, the ants leave the living bugs alone and only remove the ones that have died - acting as perhaps the most efficient custodians on the planet.
All this natural intelligence is most certainly a key to the success of our own species on the planet.
