On 30 September 1967 all the ballyhoo was for the new pop station Radio 1. But over on Radio 2, the old Light Programme, it was pretty much business as usual with staff announcer Paul Hollingdale opening up the service with the news, weather and Breakfast Special. The first “disc” played on Radio 2 (not heard in this clip) was from that week’s Record of the Week, Julie Andrew’s rendition of The Hills are Alive from The Sound of Music.
