Brian Banks had his whole career ahead of him. An outstanding American footballer at High School, he'd been scouted and tipped to make it to the very top. Then in the summer of 2002, at the age of 16 his life fell apart.
Brian was arrested after a complaint of kidnap and rape was made by a girl he thought was a friend. Despite there being no truth whatsoever to her claims, the police and justice system pursued a conviction to the fullest extent of law. Including trying him as an adult.
It was a terrifying time for a young man who just wanted his life to return to normal. Brian told Sportshour about that time and the choice he was faced with by his own lawyer as the trial began...
