Mar 25, 2014, 09:25 AM

'Shield' is an original song composed by sixteen year old Ellen O'Mahony (right), and Carla Ryan (left), which they have kindly loaned to us for the "It's Your Right' project which marks the 10th Anniversary of the Office of the Children's Ombudsman. The campaign 'It's Your Right' aims to raise awareness about the rights of children under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Both girls are students of St. Peter's College, Dunboyne and are already writing and recording their songs and releasing them via iTunes!

Watch Ellen and Carla perform 'Shield' live at Farmleigh house, for the 10th anniversary of the Ombudsman for Children's Office, on our It's Your Right Vimeo Channel: https://vimeo.com/93501641

Lyrics for 'Shield'

Verse 1: Dry your eyes my friend The danger's passed you're safe and sound There's only so long you can build it up, before the walls fall down

Chorus: So let me be your shield I can be your armour Nothing more can hurt you now as long as I am here

Verse 2: So listen to my words keep spirits high and demons low I am here and I will always be when you say we go I know we'll win this war so have no fear and have no doubt And if you hear the voices let me know I'll drown them out

Chorus: So let me be your shield I can be your armour Nothing more can hurt you now as long as I am here

Bridge: So throw away your white flag and give up on looking back 'cos tomorrow is all thats in my mind The sun is out the skies are clear Full of hope and rid of fear from inside

Chorus: So let me be your shield I can be your armour Nothing more can hurt you now as long as I am here
