Wonu: I’m Wonu. I go to Navan Educate Together National School, I’m 11 years old.

Question: And what do you think children need?

Wonu: Em, I think children need to be heard and children need to have a right to say what they think. Children need a home, children needs to have a voice and to express themselves. Children need their own space sometimes when they’re angry. Children need to see their friends. Children need to go to school and children need to go to doctors when they’re sick.

Question: What would you do if you didn’t have those rights?

Wonu: What will I do? I will go and look for an adult I will be able to trust and I’ll tell them that my rights aren’t being met and I think they’ll go and tell the Ombudsman about it and they’ll research it.

Question: Do you think it’s important that you have your rights and that you know your rights.

Wonu: I think that’s very important that we have our rights and we know them because of then we know if our rights are being met and when they’re not and then we can do something about it.
