The Anglican Bishop of Jarrow, the Right Reverend Mark Bryant, and Bishop Seamus Cunningham, the Catholic Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle, staged a joint visit to Gateshead Foodbank.

In the attached audio, the Bishop of Jarrow praises the 160-plus volunteers who run the foodbank and describes how many of the people using the foodbank are those falling victim to changes in the benefits system.

He says that the need for food banks illustrates that something has gone wrong in society and also underlines the way that Christians are playing their part in helping out the most vulnerable in society.
