Nazi Tour

In August 1937, an unlikely group of Englishman arrived in Berlin, for an even more unlikely sporting tour. The Gentlemen of Worcestershire cricket club had been invited to compete in three games against the best players in Germany, by members of the Nazi hierarchy, who'd developed an interest in the quintessentially English game. The players were closely watched, and may even have had a spy of their own within the team. A new book - Field of Shadows - tells the story of this long forgotten cricket tour. Our Midlands Correspondent, and present member of the Gentlemen of Worcestershire cricket team - Phil Mackie, reports.
