Writing Rights: Sam Bradshaw (14) 'How Can I Know Myself When No-one Else Will Hear?'

Sam was inspired by a conversation he shared with fellow Fighting Words writer Diane Pasague and wrote a song about what it is like when people feel they're not being heard, or taken seriously. Both of these are important aspects of human rights and they are rights that all children and young people have a right to expect.
Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child states that: You have the right to give your opinion, and for adults to listen and take it seriously. Sam listened to Diane's story about how she felt when she first came to Ireland as an outsider and composed a song using the music and lyrics to express that sense of feeling lost when people don't take you seriously and don't listen. Powerful stuff!
